Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy

I work with children and adolescents. Psychotherapy can support children to find ways of expressing their feelings and the issues they face in an open and non-judgemental environment. This supports them to begin addressing their problems and developing better self-esteem and confidence. This can support and promote their learning and education.

Child therapy is a way of helping a child or young person make sense of angry, painful, sad or confusing thoughts and feelings. A creative psychotherapist is trained to work with children and young people of all ages through drama, play, movement, drawing and talking about events and experiences. This offers an opportunity for a young person to learn a way that allows them to safely explore their needs.

Child Psychotherapy doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with your child. It simply means that at present-time they can benefit from some support and having a space to reflect on a current issue. It’s a space for your child to express their feelings in a supportive and safe environment.

When working with younger children I work closely with parents and families, if appropriate, joint parent-child sessions are offered, following an initial assessment. Psychotherapy sessions are confidential unless the child is at risk or other children might be at risk.
